Karnataka Institute for DNA Research (KIDNAR) is an autonomous institute under the purview of Department of Higher Education, Government of Karnataka established in Dharwad, Karnataka in 2013.
Established with the primary objective of conducting high quality research and providing service into the molecular diagnosis, prognosis and prevention of genetic disorders prevalent in high frequency in Karnataka, the Karnataka Institute for DNA Research (KIDNAR) is presently offering a comprehensive diagnosis of genetic diseases (Cytogenetics and Molecular Diagnostics).
In addition to proving genetic diagnostic services, the Institute is carrying out high quality research on molecular biology and molecular diagnosis of hereditary disorders prevalent in Karnataka viz. Hemophilia, Thalassemia, Breast Cancer, Parkinson’s disease, Cervical Cancer and different types of Leukemia. Soon the Institute will offer prenatal diagnosis for detection of chromosomal abnormalities, single gene disorders and inborn errors of metabolism.
KIDNAR has a new building comprising of 5 high-tech laboratories with state of the art equipments to conduct advanced research in Human Molecular Genetics.
